Dear World Anvil team, I am using the advanced editor (Euclid) and have recently turned off autosave since it causes massive delays and lags that disrupt my workflow. Unfortunately, it seems that the feature is very resilient since it sometimes temporarily reactivates despite still being turned off. This usually happens on the first article I open after login, but sometimes also occurs when switching to a different article. Reloading the page will return it to manual save 98% of the time, but not always. It is very tedious to constantly struggle with a feature after I have already deliberately turned it off. I would appreciate any advice if this is a known issue with a permanent workaround. Best wishes

Dear World Anvil team, I wanted to let you know that this problem has become worse for me in the meantime. I do not know if there have been any changes in the background, but autosave now frequently reactivates in articles that I am currently actively working on. I reload the page and the feature turns off, but after one or two minutes of writing, it turns on again. I have double checked the "features" menu and according to the settings it should be turned off the whole time. This is becoming more and more of a hindrance for me since the save cascades make working on an article practically impossible. Once it starts autosaving, letters only appear with a delay of 1-2 seconds on screen and navigating with the arrow keys becomes painfully slow. I would really appreciate some feedback. Is this a known issue? Could it be related to my hardware, software or browser settings? Kind regards

Thanks for the details, this isn't a common issue, from what I've seen you are the only user experiencing this. But I will be investigating this and hopefully will have some news or suggestions soon!

Hi! Just wanted to jump in with an observation from my own workflow, where I have experienced this bug.   I have autosave disabled, and use the Advanced Editor. I have found that autosave re-enables after any kind of WorldAnvil mentioning occurs - so whenever 3 letters follow an '@' or '['. Autosave then stays active while that article is being worked on, and swapping to a different article and back turns autosave back off. I think maybe it's something to do with the internal search functionality? Not sure!   I hope this is at all helpful, to you or to Gideon :)

Hi! Just wanted to say that it is happening to me right now. I turned off the auto-save because it makes it really hard to work (lagss and all), and it seems to turn on again after one or two minutes, then I refresh and it stops, but then again... It is driving me a little nuts. But just wanted to say I do experience it too. Also using euclid by the way. Best regards to all !

I just wanted to enquire if there are any news regarding this issue? I am at a point where I can barely turn autosave off anymore. Even if I reload an article or open a new tab, it immediately activates again. I have checked multiple times and it seems the option to turn it off is just plain not working anymore (at least for me). Thank you again for looking into this!

Hey, thank you for your report - we are unfortunately short on time and have numerous bug reports to investigate. This one has been noted and will be picked up as soon as possible, it has not been forgotten. As soon as we have an update, we will share it here!

Hello! I see that this is still being worked on, but that there are more pressing issues in the queue (totally understandable). I've been having this issue for quite awhile, and I originally thought it was due to using an older/lower powered laptop. After getting a new one however, I'm still seeing this issue. I'm also using the "Advanced Editor (Euclid)" and have autosave turned off in features.   My only solution has been to use the "old version edit" but I'd like to be using the newer editor. I just wanted to add my voice to this as I don't think it's an issue with my hardware anymore.   Thank you for the work you do!

Hello! I am currently investigating this. We've already made some changes in the new editor that will help (not yet deployed) and I am currently working on identifying the issue in Euclid. From my initial observations, it appears the issue is tied to the "mentions" system, as previously reported. Euclid disables the autosave for the current field when the search appears (to prevent search queries while typing from being saved and making the form refresh, which closes the search field). Once the search field is closed (ie, selecting a result, continuing to type until it realizes you aren't searching, leaving the current editor field, or manually closing with [Esc]), it fires an update to re-enable saving for the field, which appears to be re-enabling the autosave feature until the page is fully refreshed.
